A PARMELIA house may need to be demolished after and alleged drunk driver slammed into the side of the property early this morning.
The owner of the home, Anne Lodge, was asleep when she heard what sounded like an "explosion" at about 2am.
"I just heard the screech of brakes and a big bang," Mrs Lodge said.
"I jumped out of bed and thought it was something out the front of the house. Then I realised it wasn't out the front, it was to the side of the house.

"It was like an explosion, it was very scary."
Mrs Lodge said insurance assessors would visit the house today, but it was possible the home may need to be knocked down.
She said the car crashed into two bedrooms, where her grandchildren often slept.

"It could have been a lot worse. I could have had the grandchildren over."
Police say the 37-year-old woman was driving a Ford Fairmont sedan when she crashed through a fence and then the side of the brick house on Woodley Way.
No one was injured but the crash caused extensive damage to the home and police say it may need to be demolished.
The Parmelia woman was charged with driving with excess 0.08 alcohol and is due to appear in Rockingham Magistrates Court on December 11.
