A TAIWANESE university student who stuffed her cat into a jar as "punishment" for misbehaving has been charged with animal abuse.Kiki Lin, a student at Taichung's Providence University, caused on internet uproar after she posted a picture to Facbook showing her traumatised-looking pet, also named Kiki, squashed inside a glass container.She wrote on the social media site that it was a "punishment" for the feline's misbehavior.But she appeared to backtrack in comments later made to the China Post.
"I love her so much, and I was just testing out the most convenient method of taking her out," she told the newspaper. "And I only did it once."
When asked what she would say to those who had criticised her on Facebook, she said: "I only have three words for them, ha ha ha."
However, she’s unlikely to be laughing now.
After conducting an investigation, the Taichung City Animal Protection and Health Inspection Office charged Miss Lin with animal protection law violations, according to the China Post.
If found guilty she could face fines of up to $N75,000 ($2,800), and up to one year in prison.
