A BOMB disposal robot is rolling into a park next to the White House in Washington DC after a man was arrested by Secret Service agents.
A CNBC Washington reporter has tweeted that a man has been taken to a metropolitan police station and explosive experts called to the seat of US Presidential power after an "object" was thrown through the north fence of the park which forms a part of the White House grounds.
A man was seen being handcuffed by Secret Service agents and loaded into a police car in Lafayette Park, across from the White House, according to witnesses tweeting from the scene.
Bomb squad officers are still on the scene and examining the package, but that it does not appear to be an explosive, the Washington Post reports.
A US Secret Service spokesman confirmed the man had been arrested and was at a local police station.
